Create Christmas Party Flyers in Fireworks

Did you know that you can create your own custom Christmas party flyers in Fireworks? Fireworks are not only for web design but it is also great for creating flyers. The great thing about creating flyers in Fireworks is you can place your graphics and words where ever you want them, unlike Microsoft Word and Works. In these two programs you are limited to where you can place the text and graphics.
In this Fireworks guide I will show you how to create a Christmas Party Flyer. Look at the image that I have provided to get a general idea of how we will lay the flyer out. Open Fireworks and create a new document to work on. Create the document 540px by 720 px big. Set the background to white and click OK.
If you do not already have your Christmas graphics saved on your computer that you are going to use, you may want to go ahead and do that before we start. You can do a Google search for Free Christmas Graphics or Clipart and find some great stuff. For this guide I used graphics from Save the graphics to your computer that you are going to use and then move on to the next step.
The first step to creating the flyer is adding a great border to it. I added my border by using a dotted border. To do this, select your rectangle tool from the toolbar. Draw the rectangle over the document. You will need to change the fill color to none. Click on the Fill Color in the properties window. When the box pops up, click the white box with the red line through it. Next, you will need to apply the border color. You can use any color that you want. I used # FF0000 for my border color.
Next, we will apply a style to the border. Drop the Stroke Category box down and select Random / Dots. Set the stroke size to 2. You don’t have to use this border style. You can use another one.
I like to add my text before I had my graphics. So go ahead and add the text that you need to your Christmas flyer. Changing the look of the text will make the flyer look better. You could use different colors, font styles, and font sizes. See the image that I have provided to get an idea of what I am talking about. After you have finished adding all of your text, you can start adding your graphics.
I used a couple of different graphics for my flyer. You can use as many as you want. To insert graphics into your flyer, go to the top of your window and click File / Import. Locate the graphic that you want to insert. Your mouse will turn into an arrow. Click on your document to import the graphic. To duplicate the graphic, right click on the graphic and click Edit / Duplicate. To insert more graphics, just follow the directions above.
